The Seven "New" Wonders of the World

For those of you who may have missed all the hype in the media, a new list of the Seven Wonders of the (modern) World has been compiled. These take the place of the Seven Wonders of the (ancient) World. The new seven wonder were announced on July 7, 2007 after a worldwide poll led by the non-profit organization New7Wonders. More than 100 million people from all over the world voted for the top seven wonders from a field of 21 finalists. The new seven wonders, chosen by a worldwide referendum, are the Great Wall of China, the City of Petra in Jordan, the Colosseum in Rome, the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Buenos Aires, Machu Picchu in Peru, Chichen Itza in Mexico, and the Taj Mahal in India. We have the Taj Mahal (one of the new choices) and The pyramids (one of the old wonders) on our calendar for 2008.
