Sea Kayak Abel Tasman
Tuesday 10 December 2002 to Monday 16 December 2002 Golden Bay
A unique chance to enjoy the more rarely kayaked parts of Abel Tasman.
Our first day is accompanying our kayaks on a scenic drive over Takaka
Hill - the marble mountain - to Golden Bay, where we put in at Tata
Beach. We head south enjoying Taupo Point, Mutton Cove and the
challenge of a good paddle around Separation Point. Our camp near
Awaroa lagoon enables us to walk in the lush nikau and rata forests
around Totaranui. We’ll explore the lagoon, enjoy flocks of oyster
catches near Cave Point and if tides, time and weather permit you can
enjoy a bush walk to check in for a coffee and a hot shower at the
famous Awaroa Café. Rounding Awaroa Headland we’ll check out the
seals at Tonga Island and then search out that perfect camping spot for
the night. Next, a day of lagoons and calm waterways as we listen for
bell birds and tuis. Our last day will take us past Te Puketea Bay and
maybe another stop for a climb up for a view. If the wind is behind us we
can put the sail up for a cruisy ride home. Trip begins and ends in
comfort at Marahau quality lodge. Suitable for beginners but some pre-training
on those upper muscles essential!

Bike and Barge – Canal du Midi – Languedoc (trip 1)
France - This trip is yet to be confirmed - please contact us for details
A barge is a superb way to travel. Your gear, accommodation, deck
chairs, wine and kitchen floats along with you. There is no packing up
each day. The chance to make your own cup of tea or coffee when you
want it is a small but important treat when you are travelling.
You’ll be enchanted by the rural peace of the medieval villages we
travel through. The cycles on board are to enjoy cycling along the
dappled tow–path and to explore the terracotta villages and vineyards
beyond. The locks are centres of activity and interest - all part of the fun.
Everyone who wants to has a chance to steer, throw ropes, work the
manual locks and generally be part of the action. In fact the barge trip is
an active holiday - there is always something happening.
Join Lyn for a fun filled relaxing holiday experiencing the old world charm
of rural France.
Trip One starts in the scenic town of Castelnaudary (near Toulouse).
You'll gently make your way to the Mediterranean spending time to enjoy
highlights such as the Roman town of Carcassonne, wine cellars and
delightful villages too numerous to list. Evenings will find you dining al
fresco in a scented courtyard or by the canal.
Cost: $1995 -$2335pp. Send for further details.
